Stomp STMP137 (CD-Digipak)

BUY DIGITAL

To celebrate their landmark twenty-fifth anniversary, The Real McKenzies return with their 10th and very best long-player to date. And that's not hyperbole. This is an absolutely monumental giant of an album. "Two Devils Will Talk" is fourteen tracks of pure, unbridled audio bliss. The songs are rebellious, poignant and achingly heartfelt with an extra helpings of Scottish charm and wit to boot. The recurring and very timely themes of Two Devils Will Talk are hope, perseverance and living your life to it's fullest. Opening track "Due West" is an anthemic epic about moving forward and never looking back, while "Seafarers" is a rollicking tale that deals with accepting the fact that you can't change how the waves roll, only how you roll through them. There's even a glorious cover of Stan Rogers' "Northwest Passage" and a spectacular reworking of "Scots Wha Ha'e" (one of the first ever Real McKenzies recordings). "Two Devils Will Talk" sees a resilient, triumphant and defiantly hopeful band at the very top of their game.

Sanguine
Brutal Youth "Sanguine"
Stomp Records STMP132 (CD-Digipak $14.99 US)

Brutal Youth is what you'd get if a runaway train packed full of explosives made love to Tony the Tiger. These Weird Al aficionados play manic, 120 second, punk rock anthems peppered with sucker-punch hooks that'll leave you toothless before you even know what hit you.

Energetic, raw, honest, heart on sleeve punk rock, Brutal Youth have been causing a ruckus for the last 6+ years. Formed in 2010, the band hit the ground running and recorded their first brutally fantastic album, "Spill Your Guts". Shortly thereafter the group uprooted themselves from their hometown of St. John's, NL and moved to Toronto. After settling in to their new digs, Brutal Youth gained attention locally with their lightning-fast sets and blood-soaked high-intensity performances. Fast forward 6 months and we find them on the road travelling across Canada, as well as playing shows across the U.S. In a flurry of songwriting the band recorded a split 10" with Montreal locals Tightrope, which was released in Feb 2012 (My Fingers! My Brain! Records). Never content to rest, Brutal Youth headed back into the studio once again in Oct 2012 to record their sophomore album "Stay Honest" which dropped April 2013 coupled with a celebratory tour.

With the success of Stay Honest, Brutal Youth began once again writing and recording between clusters of shows and came up with the 7" "Bottoming Out" (Paper+Plastic 2015) paired with a month of tourdates across Europe before once more stepping into the studio to record their 3rd full length album "Sanguine" set to be released through Stomp Records. More touring saw the band head overseas once more for a second tour of Europe followed by a homecoming where they were invited to play Pouzzafest with NYHC giants Sick Of It All and the inaugural Asbury Park edition of the Punk Rock Bowling festival. They've shared the stage with Descendents, Cock Sparrer, The Ste Catherines, The Creepshow, Off With Their Heads and the new album is mastered by the famed Mass Giorgini (Rise Against, Anti Flag, Alkaline Trio). With the imminent release of "Sanguine", Brutal Youth have become an unstoppable juggernaut of explosive face-smashery set to level the musical landscape.

K-Man & The 45s
K-Man and the 45s "K-Man & The 45s"
Stomp Records STMP135 (CD-Digipak $14.99 US)

K-Man & The 45s, where Ska meets Rock and Roll. This Canadian 5 piece band from downtown Montreal is as heavily influenced by old school ska as it is with classic rock n roll. With a fantastic horn section playing catchy melodic lines and blazing solos over an energetic rhythm section, they switch naturally from ska to rock and punk, with surf sounds often not far behind. They draw influences as much from 2 tone bands such as The Specials and The Beat as they do from The Ramones and The Cramps.

These road dogs have now just finished up their 3rd full length album, the self-titled K-Man & The 45s, recorded and mixed by Alex Giguere (The Beatdown) and mastered by Ryan Morey (Arcade Fire and mucho more). The 12 song album features many flavors of ska, beginning with the rocking stomper They Gotta Know, a Sci-Fi movie hit, Space Thriller and even a cover of Montreal legends, The Kingpins, Party in Ja. (given to K-Man as a birthday gift from writer and frontman Paddy Walsh).

More Brrrraaaaaiiiinnnnnssss!!!!

Montreal's reigning vamps of punk-fuelled psychobilly pandemonium are set to unleash their seventh and most bone-chilling album to date.

The Brains don't fuck around. In the last year alone, they've toured Canada in support of The Reverend Horton Heat and The Nekromantix, completed two wildly successful European tours, played a circle-pit-inducing set at HEAVY MTL and even sold out 2 massive headlining shows in Russia. Their dark and disturbing music videos count in the hundreds of thousands of views and their ever-growing legion of fans are some of the most rabid on the planet. Not ones to be pinned down by genre labels, The Brains seamlessly blend rockabilly, horror, punkrock, new-wave, metal and sexed-up Latin swagger to create a signature sound that is beyond comparison.

Out In The Dark is a perfect example of The Brains' ability to smash down genre walls with eleven killer tracks of blistering Gretsch guitar, machine-gun percussion and relentless stand-up bass. Superbafrango
BOIDS "Superbafrango"
Stomp Records STMP126 (CD-Digipak $14.99 US)

BOIDS: hard-core-pop-core-punk is the name of the game. Stepping on heels and putting their elbows on the table, the band pumps out pumped up punk rock anthems with influences that they proudly wear on their cutoff sleeves… bands like The Ramones, Nomeansno, Minor Threat and all the others they cut their collective teeth on. When they're not busy working on their downstroke or lighting off bottlerockets indoors, BOIDS feel most at home living the van-life: having had the supreme pleasure of playing direct support to The Real McKenzies across Canada and the US as well as supporting The Brains from coast to coast in Canada. For their next trick they'll be heading out as support for CDN-punk icons GOB, while dually sporting a shiny new record.

SUPERBAFRANGO: 13 skull cracking bangers clocking in at 28mins (running time), meaning you've got exactly that long to figure out what the hell it's all about. A follow up to 2013's "We Stalk Each Other Like Animals", SUPERBAFRANGO aims to stand boldly in the face of the evil forces that try to bring us down, and firmly reject them... Just take the to-the-point "Fuck Your Macho Bullshit" or the poppy call & answer "Mole People" for a spin, and see for yourself.

But it's not all gloom and doom kiddies. The spastic RNR fury of "Bless This Mess" is an unbridled celebration of the freaky mess of touring, and the anthemic "Automatic Satisfaction" seeks to tackle the band's LOVE THYSELF mentality, all done while making sure there's a tasteful tongue in a tasteful BOIDS' cheek.

Put it all together, add in a perfectly-timed doo-wop cover (The Silhouettes "Get A Job"), and what do you have? You've got Faith in the 'Frango my friend. That's what you have.

Cold Hands
Fire Next Time "Cold Hands"
Stomp Records STMP121 (CD - Free Shipping! $16.99 US)

Cold Hands is courageous in its resolve to break new ground. It executes an array of musical ideas so seamlessly that moments of calm are all the more compelling for what might follow. "When the bones have cracked and the flesh and fat have all been torn away, know I'm on my way," sings Renton in "Hounds of Belgravia." That kind of visceral storytelling is the record's backbone, complemented with a bevy of instrumental flourishes, including a guest violin appearance from Vancouver musician Tegan Ceschi-Smith on "Temptation and the Journey South", "I Follow Stars, Not Dreams II" and the albums final song "Hounds of Belgravia".

"Fire Next Time is a folk band, playing catchy songs with poetic lyrics that are anchored by acoustic guitar and splashes of banjo. Live, fans love to sing along with lead singer James Renton's passionate verses while the band dresses with style and the appropriate number of members have hipster friendly beards." - Punksite

Hunters "Art Electric"
Stomp STMP113 (CD)

Four young and passionate musicians. Thousands of miles across the globe. A lot of shitty shows, but way more great great ones too. Blood, sweat & tears. Lots of promises & dreams. A couple drunken silly things.

This is The Hunters. This is ART ELECTRIC.

It all started in a basement in Quebec City 8 years ago when the boys where still just teenagers playing sloppy punk jams all night. They quickly got themselves a rusty van and left home without looking back. As of today, they played more than 300 shows on both sides of the Atlantic and have performed at tons of events such as the Vans Warped Tour, The Fest & Festival d'Été de Québec. No doubt they're pinching themselves when they think about how far they have come. The motto of the band is simple: Never back down. No regrets. No surrender. Life always puts pressure on you and tries to hold you back, but these four dedicated young men have one thing that makes them breathe: music. They put everything they've got in it and it shows every time they step onstage. In fact, the band has earned quite a reputation for their intense live performances that leaves nobody untouched.

In 2012, they released the dark, but hopeful "Promises", a mature and honest record that took everyone by surprise and garnered comparisons with bands such as Rise Against and Against Me!. Two years later, they drove all the way to the Windy City to work with acclaimed producer Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms, The Menzingers) on their current follow-up full-length. The result: "Art Electric" captures both the raw power and touching sensibility of the quartet. The band describes the recording process of the album as an amazing experience where they just let loose and made no compromises on their sound. Now more than ever, The Hunters juggle with their very diverse influences ranging from heart-on-the-sleeves folk to blazing rock n' roll to craft an unique brand of punk rock that is as catchy and it is fierce.

Mixed Messages
Planet Smashers "Mixed Messages"
Stomp STMP100 (CD $16.99 US)

FLASHBACK!: The year was 1994 and the world was a very different place….A happy-go-lucky Bill Clinton presided over the free world; Ace of Base topped the music charts with their insipid reggae-inspired hit The Sign; cats had yet to take over the internet, men and women wore acidwashed overalls slung from one shoulder â la Joey from Friends; and a young band of ragtag miscreants released their first full-length to an unsuspecting public. In case you haven't been paying attention, that band was (and still is) The Planet Smashers.

Fast forward two decades, seven albums, one million records sold worldwide, six gazillion beers consumed, countless tours and one extremely blurry never-ending party to this futuristic and confusing present day. Who will save us from this current clusterfuck filled with beliebers, honey-booboos and bathroom selfies? Who will stand boldly in the face of the autotuned, deep-vee wearing douche chills crapping in the earholes of the world? Who will dare to play their own instruments while blasting out ska hooks so catchy you wish you could scoop them up and eat them like ice-cream?....You're goddamned right it's The Planet Smashers.

Mixed Messages is the 8th and arguably best long-player from our stalwart musical heroes. Combining their trademark concoction of two-tone ska, new wave, punkrock and pop sensibilities, The Smashers showcase their classic knack for writing immediately lovable tunes straight from the gut, all the while keeping their collective tongues planted firmly in their respective cheeks. These thirteen prolific tracks run the thematic gamut of party-punk anthems, dancefloor bangers, lovesongy crooners, geeky highsteppers to pissed-off melodic fistpumpers and back again, leaving the listener pleasantly spent and basking in an eargasmic afterglow. Mixed Messages is definitely a definitive, must-have album for new and old fans alike….or maybe it's not, but it probably is…I think…or whatever. (see what I did there?).

For the past 8 years The Creepshow have been smashing the whole world in the face with their brutaltastic mélange of punk, country, psychobilly and good old fashioned rock n' roll. They've toured the world, sold a metric shit-ton of records and blown the faces off a ga-zillion fans…But the road to punkrock infamy hasn't all been paved with rainbows, unicorns and gum drops. Over the years, the band has been fraught with innumerable hardships along the way. From robberies and wrecks to line-up changes and countless personal obstacles, this band has lived through it all. And you know what? Instead of crying in their beers and whining like assholes, they got more strongerer, more awesomer, more determinated and a whole hell of a lot angrier.

Which brings us to the title… "Life After Death" is the fourth full-length from Canada's reigning heavyweight champions of macabre, horror-soaked radness. Self-produced with the engineering magic of longtime friend Steve Rizun at Drive Studios (The Flatliners, Dillinger Four, Ill Scarlett, Protest The Hero etc), "Life After Death" is a sonic ear-gasm of debauched delights. Eleven venom-drenched bangers run the gamut of themes ranging from bloody revenge (duh) to unconventional love to the joys of cocktails to defiance in the face of insurmountable adversity and back again. This is the redefined, renewed, resurrected Creepshow at their very finest.

Fuck You Shredder
BCASA "Fuck You Shredder"
Stomp STMP108 (CD $14.99 US)

A punk band that has listened to way too much Wu-Tang and Beastie Boys, and has a massive hard-on for time travel, 90s video games and Ninja Turtles, is indeed something worth turning the fuck up. Their short, violent songs and live shows leave you feeling like you've been kicked in the teeth by a Muppet; it's vicious yet colourful, and everyone goes home with a big bloody smile, and even the ugly people get laid.

Manners
Dig It Up "Manners"
Stomp STMP107 (CD $16.99 US)

With only a few releases under their belts (EP, split 7") Dig It Up has been fortunate enough to tour in the US and Canada alongside friends like 7 Seconds, A Wilhelm Scream, Frank Turner, None More Black and The Sainte Catherines. In addition, they were invited to perform at both FEST 8 and FEST 10 in Gainesville, Florida. In 2012, Alternative Press featured them in their annual 100 bands you need to know issue. Deciding that it was time to record a proper release, the boys enlisted the help of producers Jon Drew (Fucked Up, Career Suicide, Tokyo Police Club) and Marc-Andre Beaudet (The Sainte Catherines) to help make said record. After pulling some levers and turning a bunch of knobs and then bleeding and sweating all over those knobs and levers, Dig It Up's first album, Manners, is the masterful result of that incredibly intense session.

Manners is a collection of 11 diverse songs that need to be played loud and fast. These are songs that were written to be experienced live at a sweaty bar show or in a dark basement and were recorded with that in mind.

The Monster Within
Brains "The Monster Within"
Stomp STMP106 (CD $16.99 US)

The Monster Within is an unholy collection of 14 mind-bendingly brain-melting tracks that will explode in your earholes like a hell-born volcano. The impossibly fast and unbelievably tight rhythm section of Pat Kadaver (skins) and Colin The Dead (stand up bass) threaten to push the limits of sanity and safety to the very edge… Rene D La Muerte's (vox/gretsch) haunting croon sends shivers up the spines of even the most jaded listener while his signature guitar stylings fuse the rockabilly sounds of the 50's with the intensity of an industrial chainsaw. The Brains continue to blur the lines between rockabilly, psycho, surf, punk and rock n' roll; kicking down genre barriers and demanding undying loyalty at every show they play. Incorporating elements from whatever the hell they feel like, The Brains concoct an irresistable brew of Motorhead-esque ferocity and sexed up latin swagger while adding a pinch of rockabilly revival and a whole lot of booze-fueled punk rock mayhem.

Carry On
East End Radicals "Carry On"
Stomp STMP105 (CD $16.99 US)

East End Radicals have shared the stage with great bands like the Planet Smashers, The Creepshow, The Real Mckenzies and The Mahones, among many others and have toured across Canada on their own with notable festival appearance at POP Montreal and Pouzza Fest. Carry On captures the passion, intensity and fury of their phenomenal live show experience all wrapped up in this sonically astounding 12 song full length recorded Studio DRX in their hometown of Montreal. Carry On has a distinct classic punk rock flavor for all tastes whether it be fisting pumping anthems like "Call to Arms" and "Carry On", songs about political corruption like "Firebombs", Celtic barnstormers like "Shipped Away" or "Last of the Free", or the quintessential DIY spirit of "Up and Over" and "Where We Stand".

Hugo Mudie & Fred Jacques present Miracles
Miracles "Hugo Mudie & Fred Jacques present Miracles"
Stomp STMP103 (CD $14.99 US)

Hugo Mudie and Fred Jacques are the two main creative forces behind the now defunct yet still massively legendary Sainte Catherines and Yesterday's Ring. With the passing of both these incredible bands, many believed that these road-hardened music veterans would succumb to the temptations of domestic bliss, Hochelaga BBQs and beer-soaked nostalgia about the good ol' days. Thankfully, their new project Miracles is here to prove them all wrong. Hugo and Fred draw on their wide array of influences including Joe Strummer, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, The Pogues and Richard Séguin while blending them with their hard-earned and unique personal insights garnered from years of blood, sweat and tears on the road. Miracles deliver heartfelt, sincere and tongue-in-cheek folk rock masterpieces without bending to clichés or tired formulas.

Not ones to rest while waiting for the release of their debut album, Miracles has played numerous shows across Canada sharing the stage with such notables as Chuck Ragan, Joey Cape, Tim Barry and Drag The River while performing headlining slots at Rock Fest, Pouzza Fest and Pouzza Palooza.

Miracles just feels like the logical progression from Yesterday's Ring. Traditional acoustic instruments (stand up bass, banjo, horns, guitars) are arranged beautifully to compliment the rough, melodic and poetic lyrics of Mudie and Jacques. Leaving their comfort zone behind, the boys have ventured into new and surprising territory with the resulting album sure to become an instant classic.

No. 2 LP
Hellbound Hepcats "No. 2 LP"
Stomp STMP102LP (LP $28.99 US)

No. 2
Hellbound Hepcats "No. 2"
Stomp STMP102 (CD $16.99 US)

Their aptly named sophomore album "No. 2" comes hot on the heels of their critically acclaimed self-titled 2010 debut. Since then, The Hellbound Hepcats have played over 500 shows and shared the stage with Brian Setzer (Montreal Jazz Fest), The Creepshow, The Brains, The Koffin Kats, Bloodshot Bill and countless others. Jammed to the brim with songs about love, lust, hard living, humor, overindulgence and good times, No. 2 will instantly make you nostalgic for that bygone era when fun, rebellion and rock n roll were all that mattered.

Walkin' Proud
Beatdown "Walkin' Proud"
Stomp STMP099 (CD $14.99 US)

They call it Northern Reggae…A one-hundred proof blend of raspy rocksteady, sizzling soul, surf swagger and punkrock pedigree shaken (not stirred) with a double shot of the roughest roots reggae your ears have ever tasted. Pour it into a highball glass over some ice-cold lyrics and you've got The Beatdown's latest full-length offering "Walkin' Proud". Following hot on the heels of their acclaimed 2010 self-titled debut, "Walkin' Proud" is an un-apologetic collection of thirteen hard driving, soulful bangers coming straight from the gut. The album was recorded almost entirely live off the floor, capturing the raw live energy, urgency and unmarred production that has made The Beatdown an established underground favorite with fans and newbies alike.

Toil
Flatfoot 56 "Toil"
Stomp STMP101 (CD $14.99 US)

Like "Black Thorn", Flatfoot 56's new studio album "Toil" was produced by the Street Dogs' Johnny Rioux. "We decided that since the last experience with Johnny was so beneficial, we wanted to repeat it," Bawinkel said. "We have been friends with Johnny for years our mutual respect fosters a good creative environment for putting together a record. He knows how to challenge us and push us the next level, which is what any band hopes for."

While the record is more rootsy and folk-oriented, it definitely packs the same relentless knock-down punch that fans have grown to expect from Flatfoot 56. More than a decade into its career, Flatfoot 56 isn't slowing down, but maintaining a blistering pace of non-stop touring and prolific musical output.

Get Alright
Fundamentals "Get Alright"
Stomp STMP097 (CD $14.99 US)

Get Alright, the debut album from Montreal's The Fundamentals, hits hard with grooving rhythms, powerful horns, and charging choruses. Tracks like "Gone", "Forgiveness", and the title track echo the fun and heartfelt ska and soul of the past, while others such as "Promises" and "St. Dominique" display their creativity within the genre while remaining true to its roots. With the help of producer Mitch "King Kong" Girio (King Apparatus, The Kingpins), The Fundamentals have crafted a record that's sure to make waves within their scene and beyond.

Blastoff
Danny Rebel & The KGB "Blastoff"
Stomp STMP098 (CD $11.99 US)

Their crowning achievement of their work comes in the form of their debut full-length, BLASTOFF!, recorded & produced by Dub scientist Victor Rice. An album that spans sixteen tracks and three continents, available Summer 2012 on Stomp Records, is all you'll need to convince yourself deep down that you were, are, and always will be a part of the KGB. So fly your flag, get on the dance floor, and let loose! When faced with the prospect of the future, the KGB are quick to reply:

"We've traveled back in time from the future to ensure that all is BANG!, life is BOOM!, and the universe continues to be 300% DYNAMITE!"

Promises
Hunters "Promises"
Union UN043 (CD $16.99 US)

Inspired by everything that's heartfelt, from anthemic punk rock to muddy guitar-driven blues, from spellbinding folk to thundering rock n' roll, they create a catchy, yet ardent sound they call their own. Their new record "Promises" is a unique and mature punk rock record produced and recorded by the production duo of Hugo Mudie & Marc-André Beaudet ( both of The Sainte Catherines fame ).

Westwinds
Real McKenzies "Westwinds"
Stomp STMP096 (CD $999.99 US)

They're baaaack… Westwinds is packed to the brim with roaring, rollicking and epic tales that shanghai the listener on a thirteen song, sea-tossed journey through the wild and wonderful world of The Real McKenzies. Recorded over several months at Crabapple Downs by the phenomenal Steve Loree, Westwinds is a sonic shot of deliciousness delivered straight to your ear holes. From the unapologetic raised middle figure salute of "Fool's Road" to the hook-laden tongue-in-cheek "My Luck Is So Bad" to one of the most poignant and blood-pumping renditions of "Barrett's Privateers (Stan Rogers)" that you'll ever hear, this killer album is set to become an instant classic in the collections of both new and diehard fans alike. Much like a fine single malt scotch, The Real McKenzies only get better with age .

Battered & Smashed
Total Chaos "Battered & Smashed"
Stomp STMP095 (CD $14.99 US)

Now in the new Battered & Smashed era, the message is stronger than ever before. There is a real sense of urgency pouring from the band when it comes to social and political reform. It oozes from their music and is undeniably sincere. After 21 years Total Chaos has grown as a band and has seen many come and go- but they have always kept their original ideals of what their genre of music is all about. Which hasn't been proven to be an easy feat during a time of mirages and deceit. Regardless of what you believe, whether your scene is pop punk, street punk, hardcore, glam-punk straight edge, political punk, goth punk, skate punk, punkabilly, crust punk, metal punk, old school punk rock (the list goes on and on), Total Chaos' musical style and message can unify them all. It all comes down to one community in the end, and that is PUNK ROCK!

Suck
Johnstones "Suck"
Stomp STMP104 (CD $12.99 US)

The guys have been featured in movies, TV shows, commercials, competed on reality TV, appeared as judges on Much Music's ‘Video On Trial', toured with numerous successful side projects, done voices for cartoons, done comedy opening for acts like ‘Jackass's Steve-O', and now they even have their own half-hour TV show…A show that features music, crazy antics, sketch comedy and guests. There is literally no aspect of the media that The Johnstones have not touched on. These guys take being a band to a whole new level. There is clearly no line that they won't cross in the name of entertainment, as they continuously innovate and remain light years ahead of the curve to the point where it has actually become an ongoing joke in the industry that much like ‘South Park' had coined "The Simpson already did it" whatever new idea a band thought they had, "The Johnstones already did it".

Right now the Johnstones are back on the scene in a big way with their latest offering "Suck". This new album is fast, insane, and encompasses everything that makes The Johnstones unique. The Johnstones are like a missile set to explode on the earth that can't be slowed down by barriers, restrictions or haters.

Drunk Not Dead
Brains "Drunk Not Dead"
Stomp STMP094 (CD $16.99 US)

Drunk Not Dead is an unholy collection of mind-bendingly ear-scorching tracks that grab you by the neck, stare straight into your eyes and dare you to fight back. The impossibly fast, tight rhythm section of Pat Kadaver (skins) and Colin The Dead (stand up bass) threaten to push the limits of sanity and safety to the very edge… Rene D La Muerte's (vox/gretsch) haunting croon sends shivers up the spines of even the most jaded listener while his signature guitar stylings fuse the rockabilly sounds of the 50's with the intensity of a chainsaw-wielding maniac in a pitch black room full of teenagers. The Brains continue to blur the lines between rockabilly, psycho, punk and rock n' roll; kicking down genre barriers and demanding undying loyalty at every show they play. Incorporating elements from whatever the hell they feel like, The Brains concoct an irrestible brew of Motorhead-esque ferocity and sexed up latin swagger while adding a pinch of new-wave and a whole lot of booze-fueled punk rock mayhem.

Seething Is Believing
Random Hand "Seething Is Believing"
Stomp STMP093 (CD $13.99 US)

Swinging hard from the left wing and mixing the best of British punkrock, ska and thrash, Random Hand are keeping the old school alive and well.

Descent Into The Valley Of...
Planet Smashers "Descent Into The Valley Of..."
Stomp STMP080 (CD $16.99 US)

If you've been wondering where exactly the Planet Smashers have been for the past six years since their last album "Unstoppable", there's a very simple explanation….A late-night audio experiment in the recording studio resulted in a randomly generated interdimensional time-space vortex that teleported the Smashers 65 million years into the past. Undaunted by this unexpected turn of events, The Planet Smashers began hunting, gathering and writing their finest album to date. Luckily the band was cryogenically frozen throughout the iceage and recently discovered trapped inside an iceberg floating down the Saint Lawrence river.
Inspired by volcanic eruptions and constant dinosaur attacks, "Descent Into The Valley Of…" is 15 tracks of pure unadulaturated party ska awesomeness served up hot with an extra large order of radical sauce on the side just for good measure. From the hilariously addictive tom-foolery of "The Hippopotamus" to the darkly brooding "Die Tomorrow" to the punkrock insanity of "Food Fight" to the touching love song "My Obsession", this album delivers something for everyone while maintaining the Smashers' signature badassitude that has made them an international sensation for over 17 years…Grab your club and put on your best wooly mammoth pelt, cuz this time they're making pre-history.

Kill Everyone
Turbo A.C.s "Kill Everyone"
Stomp STMP092 (CD $13.99 US)

Kill Everyone promises to be their best effort to date. Previous Turbo A.C.'s producer Blag Dahlia recently previewed the album and said "WOW! I dig it, sounds like T-Rex on pills," and called it a "new direction for Kevin Cole." -High praise indeed, even if that praise is coming from someone who is mostly high.
"Evolved" is a descriptor overused by most music writer, but The Turbo AC's really do show their evolution on Kill Everyone. It's a departure from their other releases, a composite of familiar Turbo AC's goodness with the spaghetti western-esque Sonora or the anthemic Black Lipstick, mixed with the slow-to-mid tempo Live Fast, Die Slow Revisted and peppered with ultra violence throughout. The AC's are especially proud to have Gary Lindsey of Hank Williams III and Assjack fame providing guest vocals on Tu Vida Se Acaba un Minuto a la Ves.
16 cuts deep and produced by Kevin Cole, Stomp Records will distribute the album in North America and Concrete Jungle in Europe.

All Skanadian Vol. 5
V/A Compilations "All Skanadian Vol. 5"
Stomp STMP090 (CD $9.00 US)

It's been over 10 years since the last installment of The All-Skanadian series and nearly
20 years since the first All-Skanadian Club showed the world that the Canadian ska scene is one
of the strongest and most diverse in the world.
Now, after more than a decade, Volume 5 is set to knock the world on it's ass and send
a huge middle finger to every silly bastard who said that the genre was dead. This time around
Stomp Records teamed up with the good folks from the Victoria and Montreal Ska Festivals to
not only strengthen the scene but also seek out bands from far and wide.
When Stomp Records put out the call for submissions, nearly 50 bands immediately
sent in tracks; which made the selection process extremely difficult to say the least. When the
dust finally settled, twenty two stellar bands made the cut rounding out 69+ minutes of the very
best ska jams around. From punky to 2tone to reggae to trad and back, there is something here for
everyone.
Nearly every province is represented from coast to coast. Some of the bands are brand
spanking new and some are grizzled veterans of the scene (including a never before heard tack
from the mighty Planet Smashers!). Just take a look at the tracklisting for proof positive that ska
music is more than alive and well in Canada. I double dog dare you to listen to this compilation
and not shake your ass.

Nothin' But Time
Rude City Riot "Nothin' But Time"
Stomp STMP088 (CD $13.99 US)

Few bands of any genre suddenly show up with a first CD with such impressively well-crafted and undeniably addictive songs. Though the members of Rude City Riot have different musical backgrounds and styles, they all have a strong reverence for the roots of ska tradition and share the influences of rock, punk, reggae and soul music. RCR effortlessly and seamlessly combine these elements into a dynamic sound that is as powerful as it is uplifting.

Bateman Begins
BCASA "Bateman Begins"
Stomp STMP091 (CD $16.99 US)

With twangy guitar licks, distorted slinky bass lines, bombardments of call and answer vocals, and intense drum rhythms from speedy to beat-y, The BCASA are providing one of the more interesting sounds in the Canadian music scene. Though they have survived in the punk circuit for years, their approach and energy leave you with a very counter-punk feeling. They demonstrate a catalogue of songs with lyrics and titles so ridiculous that you can't ignore them. From "Double Hitler Violation", a hockey anthem, to "Q Dog King Cheese Parkin' Bitches at Your Mom's Place", a song no one is really too sure about, to songs simply about eating food and killing robots. It is clear that this band has no interest in your interests.

Rugged Road (Canada ONLY)
This item is not available to ship to your region
Aggrolites "Rugged Road (Canada ONLY)"
Stomp STMP089 (CD)

The heavy Aggrolites beat is back and in full-effect with Rugged Road. The recording sessions took place at Young Cub studio headquarters in Boston, with Craig "DubFader" Welsch (Slightly Stoopid, John Brown's Body) at the controls. Jeff Roffredo (bass) sums it up nicely; We wanted to lay down these new rhythms on reel to reel tape, playing all together in one room to create a vibe that can't be copied by any of the newest advances in recording technology." Comprised of old-school instrumentals laden with simmering keys and driving rhythms, topped off with the Aggro's signature soulful dirty reggae vocal tracks, Rugged Road is set to cause a ruckus on the scene.

See You In Hell
Resignators "See You In Hell"
Stomp STMP087 (CD $13.99 US)

Melbourne's suburban ska-punk allstars The Resignators, never knew back in 2005 that their infectious sound and trend defying style would take them around the world. As one of Australia's hardest working independent bands, The Resignators have seen it all, playing over 600 shows both nationally and internationally. This road-hardened sextet know how to get any crowd on their feet and skanking to their infectious and rowdy beats.

But it hasn't been all cider and skanking for The Resignators. Mid 2008 saw the band deported from London's Heathrow airport in a tale that is now a part of rock 'n roll folk lore. Missing out on a UK tour and an appearance at Czech-republic's Mighty Sounds Festival.

Despite this, the band soldiered on past adversity and returned home to continue honing their craft and building their Australian network of fans. 2009 brought new hope for the band with an invite to join the cream of Australian artists, representing the nation at SXSW, in Austin, Texas. This amazing opportunity happened to coincide with the band releasing 'Offbeat Time', a combination of both their debut album and EP for North American audiences though Montreal-based Stomp records.

These two enormous milestones for the band meant one thing; An epic tour through Canada and USA. Armed with nothing but a 'she'll be right mate' attitude and a 'punch in the face' live show, The Resignators set out to Vancouver. They bought a van and drove it across the Canadian ice and snow, down to Texas and then back up to Montreal, playing about 40 shows across the 2 nations.

With new friends and fans in North America, 2010 saw a return to Canada for the Resignators. Recording their anticipated second full length album 'See You In Hell' with Stomp records producer Alex Giguere (One Night Band, The Beatdown) in Montreal, as well as a full national tour.

Fire Works (Canada Only)
Sainte Catherines "Fire Works (Canada Only)"
Union UNN042 (CD $13.99 US)

Okay, well The Sainte Catherines, not to be outdone, recorded their album in a country chalet, all by themselves with no engineer at all. Now, as we all know, this is either the recipe for disaster or brilliance, and which one do you think I'm gonna say Fire Works is? Come on. This record takes its cues from the band's early influences like American Steel, the Broadways, Jawbreaker and Fifteen, and strains it through a sieve of 70's rock, like a French Canadian wine that will kick your dick off, get you drunk, eat all your poutine and find you hung-over in the morning humming the most melodic and positive tunes of the bands storied career. Did I mention that these dudes fought a whole city with Against Me!? Well, I don't like to name drop,

Creepshow "They All Fall Down (Canada Only)"
Stomp STMP086 (CD $16.99 US)

In the summer of 2010, the Creepshow finally returned home to their native Toronto for the first time in a very long time. Inspired by their years of travel, hundreds of shows and slightly battered by the experience, the band entered the studio with only one thought on their collective mind…REVENGE! The resulting full-length "They All Fall Down" is by far the band's best and most terrifying to date. From the opening explosive chords on "Get What's Coming" to the deceptively seductive ballad "Sleep Tight" to the knock-down-drag-out punk rock title anthem, "They All Fall Down" is a full throttle hellride into the Creepshow's dark and wonderful world. Slated for an October 2010 worldwide release, The band will once again be taking their eye-popping live show on the road. Like a bombshell in a whirlwind, the force of nature known as The Creepshow will be descending on a town near you soon and you don't want to miss them when they do. Just don't get too close...

Polka's Not Dead
Dreadnoughts "Polka's Not Dead"
Stomp STMP085 (CD $16.99 US)

Formed in 2006 over pints of cheap beer at East Vancouver's notoriously violent Ivanhoe Hotel, the Dreadnoughts cut their teeth in the roughest dive bars in the city. They started by opening for (and earning the praise of) celtic-punk grandfathers The Real McKenzies, and since then have never looked back. Hauling a fiddle, an accordion, a mandolin, a tin whistle, guitars and drums into every venue that would have them, they quickly became known for their powerful, chaotic live performances. In four short years they have slowly but surely joined the ranks of Canada's punk rock elite, bringing their insanely energetic and dangerous live show to the four corners of the globe.

Born Running
Glen Matlock "Born Running"
Stomp STMP084 (CD $14.99 US)

Glen's latest album, Born Running, recorded with his band The Philistines, offers up twelve more punchy and direct examples of Matlock's innate ability to craft timeless, melodic rock songs. It has an added poignancy insofar as it features the last recordings of guitarist Steve New, one of Matlock's oldest friends and fellow founder-member of The Rich Kids, who died in 2010. Also in the band's line up is drummer Javier Weyler, the current drumming incumbent with The Stereophonics, as well as guitarist James Stevenson, who, like Matlock, is a musical survivor from the original School of '76 British Punk Rock. The album was produced by Jim Lowe, who has produced numerous hugely successful albums for The Stereophonics. Born Running is the latest salvo from a musician and songwriter who is never satisfied with resting on his considerable musical achievements; there is much more to come from this hugely gifted individual.

Black
Out Of Print
Ripcordz "Black"
Mayday! SOS007 (CD $13.99 US)

Canadian Punk legends Ripcordz return with their thirteenth album -- and it looks like a lucky number for all of us. The band keeps it's signature distortion on the guitars (and voice), but stirs in a little more rock 'n roll this time around. There are some straight-ahead punk anthems like Norm Next Door and I Am Canadian. But the band also includes the celtic-influenced Six Shooter (dedicated to the lovely bartenders at Toronto's Bovine bar). And let's not forget the tribute to their favourite prairie town, Gotta Get Out Of Humboldt, which sounds a little like Bruce Springsteen put through a Cuisinart (not a bad image when you think about it). "Softening the edges?" "Not bloody likely!" cries the band, who are fortunately a little too inebriated to start a fight (or start the van) this day...

Self Titled
Hellbound Hepcats "Self Titled"
Stomp STMP082 (CD $16.99 US)

The 13 track self-titled rockabilly album is a homage to the spirit of rebellion that gave birth to the rock n' roll of the 1950's. The album was recorded at Moonbabe Studio with engineer/producer Tean Schultz. All the songs were written over a a four year span by lead-singer and guitarist Alexander Brown and stand-up bassist Jordan Peddie. From heart-throbbing ballads like "She's The Reason Why" to beat-bopping dance tunes like "Gimme More" and "Brand New Forty-Five", the sound and themes of the songs are diverse. From the arrogance of "How Many Girls" to the tenderness of "She's The Reason Why", the album draws inspiration from the never-ending battle between love and lust.

The Beatdown
Beatdown "The Beatdown"
Stomp STMP079 (CD $14.99 US)

Step outside and put up your dukes cuz Montreal's blue-collar road-warriors The Beatdown are set to knock out their debut self titled full-length this summer!

This hardworking four-piece outfit has a deep and unyielding passion for roots reggae, ska and Jamaican music while adding their own elements of 60's soul delivered with a gritty and uncompromising punk rock ethic. Formed out of the ashes of the now legendary trad ska soul band The One Night Band, The Beatdown bring the heavy heavy reggae sound to the masses with their explosive recordings and energetic live shows. Although the band formed less than a year ago they have toured more than 10 countries sharing the stage with Vernon Maytone (The Maytones), The Slackers, The Planet Smashers, Chris Murray, U-Roy, Subb and The Johnstones just to name a few and have enjoyed top billing at the Montreal International Reggae Festival, Montreal Ska Fest and the Ottawa Ska Fest among others.

For fans of The Slackers, The Aggrolites, Desmond Dekker and The Specials

Zombie Nation

Brains "Zombie Nation"
Stomp STMP081 (CD $16.99 US)

Recorded over several months deep underground in a Montreal bunker, ZOMBIE NATION is by far The Brains' best work to date. Rene D La Muerte's dirty Gretsch twang melds seamlessly with newcomer Colin The Dead's blistering stand-up bass stylings all the while held together by Franck O' Brains who pounds harder and faster than a crackhead's heartbeat after a fix. Some of the best and biggest names in psychobilly and rockabilly lent their unique talents on the recording, including Stein, Matt and Andy from the legendary Mad Sin, Dan Deleon from Rezurex and Richy from Blood Sucking Zombies From Outer Space. ZOMBIE NATION is guaranteed to become a fast favorite for all fans of punk, rock, psychobilly, horror, metal and everything in between.

Wasting Time
Sarah Blackwood "Wasting Time"
Stomp STMP075 (CD $13.99 US)

Picking up where "Way Back Home" left off, Sarah Blackwood's sophomore solo album "Wasting Time" is an intensely personal collection of beautifully-crafted, roots country songs that also touches on elements of gospel, pop and soul. Where her debut was a stripped down, raw acoustic album, "Wasting Time" raises the bar by adding an incredibly talented roster of players, friends and family. Sarah's one-man band Daniel Flamm (Heartbreak Engines, Sewer Rats) came in from Germany to add vocals, lead guitar, banjo and piano. Producer Gianni Luminati lends a hand with percussion, ukulele, mandolin and bass. Other guest musicians include brother Ian Blackwood, father Mike Blackwood, bandmate Sean "Sickboy" McNab and Lee Williamson

Black Thorn (Canada Only)

Flatfoot 56 "Black Thorn (Canada Only)"
Stomp STMP077 (CD $14.99 US)

Black Thorn, tightly packs the quartet's eclectic and driving musical charge into thirteen tracks that celebrate the pride of the working class and their Chicago roots. A collection of songs that delves into weighty thematic content, Tobin explains that the cohesive theme of Black Thorn is a fundamentally universal one. "Everyone goes through hardships, but you aren't alone. Punk rock is about community and brotherhood. This record is our contribution to that." As cathartic as it is ambitious, Black Thorn is an emphatic assault that remains vintage Flatfoot in its effortless combination of Celtic instrumentation and street corner punk rock. Bagpipes and mandolins remain just as vital as drums and guitars in defining Flatfoot's sound.

A Me 'Dis
Jah Cutta "A Me 'Dis"
Stomp STMP078 (CD $13.99 US)

Canada's King of Reggae, Jah Cutta has been blowing minds for over 20 years. Renowned for his ferocious live performances, he is the hardest working man in reggae without a doubt. Jah Cutta has shared the stage with some of music's greatest entertainers including reggae leagends Peter Tosh, The Wailers, Gregory Issacs, Beenie Man, Buju Banton and electronic groove masters the Thievery Corporation . Jah Cutta recently collaborated with Subb on the song "I Heart MTL" which has been made into a video that has been widely viewed on Musique Plus. The long awaited third full-length "A Me 'Dis" " released in April 2010 on Stomp Records.

Get Ready
Open Season "Get Ready"
Stomp STMP076 (CD $13.99 US)

About the music: Open Season plays Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. Bass, lots of bass, bubbling organ, jazzy horns, the charismatic voice of the lead singer and ingenious electronic sounds… The band's authentic sound bridges the crackling of old vinyl singles to the screaming of synthesizers.

Forever For Hire
Koffin Kats "Forever For Hire"
Stomp STMP074 (CD $14.99 US)

With six years under their belt and countless international tours to prove it, the Koffin Kats show no sign of slowing down. This trio blasted out of Detroit in June of 2003 with the mission to never stop for anything. Vic Victor (Lead Vocal, Upright Bass) would join forces with long time friend Tommy Koffin (Guitar) and start laying the ground work for the sonic assault known as The Koffin Kats.

They put together songs about drug use, self-loathing, and all things evil. With Eric "e Ball" Walls (Drums) they began to stomp the shit out of Detroit and the surrounding area. The next couple of years proved to be up and down with drummer changes and the release of their first three albums - S/T (2003), Inhumane (2005), and Straying from the Pack (2006).

This onslaught caught the attention of many and helped to cement The Koffin Kats as one if the top acts in the world of punk rockabilly. In 2007 Vic and Tommy hooked back up with Eric to get ready for the fourth album- Drunk in the Daylight (2008) - and began what the Kats are known for- NON STOP TOURING. With their love for their fans and for the road they set out to play everywhere willing to listen to them. They have done this ever since and now have joined forces with Stomp Records to release their 5th album "Forever for Hire" in October 2009.

The Last Band On Earth
Out Of Print
Hypnophonics "The Last Band On Earth"
Stomp STMP073 (CD $12.99 US)

At first glance, many people would assume the Hypnophonics are a straight forward Psychobilly band, with song titles such as Invasion, Children of the Atom and Scream combined with a look complete with greasy pompadours, upright bass and paper 3-D glasses give some people the impression that this band should not be taken seriously. But more often than not, these impressions changing after viewing a live performance where most would say the band leans a little heavier on their Garage/Punk influences with such songs as Dead Meat, Romance with a Rapist, Fucked Up, Maybe it's You and It's Alright. It is often made clear by the band that they have become very bored with what modern Psychobilly has become, plagued by all the tongue in cheek horror cliches and devoid of anything truly psychotic. they have vowed never to play any poppy, sugar coated songs about "Zombies who ride around the graveyard all night in their '57 Cadillacs looking for their undead girlfriends before they end up in a switchblade rumble with a gang of Vampires..."

Blackwater
Expos "Blackwater"
Stomp STMP072 (CD $13.99 US)

The Expos have been stubbornly blazing their own trail through reggae, roots and ska music since 2003, avoiding obvious influences and opting for more personal reflections on the genre. Heavy bass & drums are offset by a crooning, soft-spoken and soulful vocals. On stage, however, The Expos are a completely different entity, turning the volume up, and crossing the borders between reggae and rack and some third sound that doesn't quite have a name yet.

On October 13th, The Expos will unleash their follow up full-length Blackwater. Filled with driving rhythms, haunting melodies and pop sensibilities, these eleven tracks bring their A game all the while staying true to their punk, rock and roots ethics.

Damn Disco
Video Dead "Damn Disco"
Union UNN041 (CD $13.99 US)

Taken from a conversation in a chance meeting with Canadian funny man Eugene Levy, Damn Disco came to fruition. Levy told of his uncle Harold Cudlats, a legendary Canadian concert promoter, and his experience with live music being essentially run out of town in the late 1970's with the birth of disco music, as club owners began opting to hire DJ's rather than live acts to get people on the dance floor. Parallels were drawn from this to the current state of music, insinuating much of today's mainstream pop to be, in essence, 21st century disco. The group decided to adopt this idea as their latest call to arms and launch their assault on what can only be described as the inane, low-brow pablum spoon fed to the masses through pre fabricated, driveling pop stars. Delivering what may be the polar opposite of the Disco idea of past and present, The Video Dead aim to sonically re-enact a proverbial Comiskey Park of July 12 ,1979.

Can't Be Trusted
Johnstones "Can't Be Trusted"
Stomp STMP069 (CD $12.99 US)

An ingenious melee of styles and attitudes, The Johnstones manipulate the strongest elements of their personal preferences, consolidating them into a most anomalous, extraordinary and fucking catchy original genre: a collection of ska and hip hop-infused punk music taking the catchiness of '90s bands such as Rancid and No Doubt yet adding a hip hop/dance vibe that produces a fast, energetic and virulent style.

To This Beat
SUBB "To This Beat"
Stomp STMP070 (CD $13.99 US)

With their latest full-length "To This Beat", Subb explodes back onto the scene with a career-defining collection of summertime bangers. The boys enlisted the help of good friend and reggae dancehall legend Jah Cutta to dive even deeper into the roots of ska music with heartfelt tributes to their home town (I Heart Montreal), reggae music and culture (Shottas & Mount Zion). Don't worry though, tracks like "The Black Hand", Hiro Nakamura" and "Black Gold" balance out the record perfectly with Subb's signature brand of melodic, blazing and upbeat punk rock. Insightful, fiercely political and unflinching; SUBB is still standing strong as one of the best international skapunk outfits in the game today.

Victory Square
Dreadnoughts "Victory Square"
Stomp STMP071 (CD $16.99 US)

The Dreadnoughts: One part roaring sea shanty, one part haunting Irish melody, and a solid chaser of gut-crunching street punk. This ragtag group of drunken misfits stays true to the ancient ballads and bawlers that once drove sailors around the world, all the while smashing out modern punk with a fury and intensity that is unmatched anywhere.

In three short years they have slowly but surely joined the ranks of Canada's punk rock heroes.

The lads will be touring non-stop starting May 15th when they hit the road across Canada on their first headlining tour. Look for them cuz they will most certainly be looking for you. Slainte!

Between The Lines
Saint Alvia "Between The Lines"
Stomp STMP063 (CD $13.99 US)

Even with all the accolades and recent success, Saint Alvia has maintained a firm foothold in its punk rock roots and ethics; preferring to redefine and challenge genres rather than to follow current trends. "Between The Lines" is no exception. A raging tongue-in-cheek tribute to late 80's rap switches up to angry reggae tunes which flow seamlessly into country-infused ballads then flip into full-on Clash-esque punk rock anthems. There's even a booze-fuelled Russian waltz in there that would make Tom Waits blush. The album also features guest appearances from good friends Wade McNeil (Alexisonfire, Black Lungs), Ricky Snips (Ceremonial Snips) and Scott Russell (Planet Smashers, Toasters).

Run For Your Life
Creepshow "Run For Your Life"

From sweet, mournful ballads to horrorbilly boot stompers to raging punk fueled anthems, this record has it all. The infamous Steve Rizun (Protest The Hero, The Flatliners, Ill Scarlett) returned to the producer's chair to capture all the intensity and energy that has made The Creepshow a worldwide cult sensation and offers it up in an ear-scorching orgy of pure sonic bliss.

Hit & Run
One Night Band "Hit & Run"
Stomp STMP064 (CD $12.99 US)

Since then the band has release a critically acclaimed debut album, played close to a thousand shows around the world and have toured with bands like Lynval Golding (Specials), The Planet Smashers, The Flatliners, Chris Murray and Mikey Dread just to name a few.

The latest offering of true-blue dirty ska, soul and reggae, Hit & Run, was produced by the masterful Mr. Brian Dixon of the Aggrolites and was recorded live off the floor in mono using antique ribbon mics to preserve the authentic sound and ethic behind this form of music.

Fuck!?!" in between countless party anthems. Sarcastic, serious and silly, THE REAL DEAL's newest touches on just about everything a good punk record should. Buck O Nine "Sustain (Canada Only)"
Stomp STMP060 (CD $8.99 US)

Southern California ska-punk-reggae act Buck-O-Nine's latest album, Sustain, is christened with the most poignant term that could be applied when summarizing the band's whirlwind course throughout the past several years. From the extreme highs and chaos that often comes along with being a full-time touring band, to the incalculable lows of returning to "normal life," the lyrical content and feel of the music emanates from deep within the hearts of the band's members.

Sustain - produced by the Buck-O-Nine with engineer Jeff Forrest in early 2007 and mixed by Jason Livermore (Lagwagon, Descendents) - is the band's first new studio full-length since 1999's Libido.

Union UNN040 (CD $14.99 US)

Spearheaded with the frenetic energy and rabblerousing lyrics of vocalist Efrem Schulz and illustrious chops of guitarist Dan Palmer, Death is My Only Friend finds the band's sound venturing into uncharted musical waters. Guiding them throughout the process of writing and recording the record was producer Jason Freese (Green Day, Jewel, Goo Goo Dolls). The album was also mixed by Jay Baumgardener (Linkin Park, Evanesance) at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, where he was able to hone in on all the right musical cues, making for the biggest sounding DBS record to date. When all was said and done, a year had passed before the completion of the album and this latest offering from Death By Stereo showcases a level of depth and craftsmanship never before displayed by the band. In the vein of The Clash, Operation Ivy, and Rancid, THE FLATLINERS' sound has developed over the years from simplistic and raw tunes to fast-paced, politically-charged punk-ska with attitude.

Grey Veins To The Parking Lot
The Frenetics "Grey Veins To The Parking Lot"
Union UNN028 (CD $8.00 US)

Montreal punk/pop three piece deliver a solid collection of songs in the form of "Grey Veins To The Parking Lot", the follow up album to 2001's 'These Mistakes Took Years Of Practice' (UNION013). The album was recorded partially in Montreal at Breakglass and Le Beatbox studios by Marc-Andre Beaudet (The Sainte Catherines) and Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes), and in London, Ontario at The House of Miracles by Andy Magoffin (Hidden Cameras, Constantines, By Divine Right). Magoffin's recordings have become renown for their eccentricity and sense of space, perhaps due to eight years of working the same small live room and collecting the prepared pianos, percussion and vintage amplifiers that now live there. The Frenetics took full advantage of this, as can be heard on tracks like 'Holding Song' and 'I Can't Even Say Goodnight', two short bursts of moody punk energy. This environment didn't prevent the band from delivering the hook-laden power pop they are better known for, however. 'Bullpen' and 'The Bitter Years' rock out hard and confident, with Winnipeg-based singer/songwriter Greg Macpherson helping out on lead and backing vocals. Perhaps the album's peak is 'Running Up', a song that blends The Frenetics often darker lyrical imagery with their penchant for traditional pop song structure and dynamics. The song also features two firsts for the band: a horn section (made up of members of The Planet Smashers, Kobayashi and Parkside Jones) and a "real2 guitar solo that would make Mick Jones of The Clash proud.
